Why chat
Visitors who have a quick question often leave rather than fill in a form. Live chat gives them an answer while they are on the page, and gives you a record of what they asked.
Step 1: Create a Zoho SalesIQ account
Sign up and choose a plan. Zoho lists plans and a free trial on its site, and plan terms change, so check the current page.
Step 2: Install the widget
Zoho gives you an embed code. Add it to your site, in the template that appears on every page, so chat is available throughout.
Step 3: Customise the widget
Match the colours, name and welcome message to your brand. Set the operating hours honestly: a widget promising an instant reply at midnight disappoints visitors.
Step 4: Set triggers
Zoho lists triggers based on lead score, page viewed, time spent and specific actions. Start with a few, such as a greeting on your pricing or contact page, and review them after a few weeks.
Step 5: Watch and respond
Zoho lists real-time visitor insights and live chat reports. Use them to see which pages prompt questions, and write better answers for the most common ones. A chatbot, which Zoho lists, can handle routine questions and pass the rest to a person.
Before you start
Decide who answers, how fast, and what happens outside hours. A chat nobody answers is worse than no chat.
How we can help
We install and configure SalesIQ, design triggers and bot flows, and connect chat to Zoho CRM. See Zoho SalesIQ and Zoho CRM.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a developer?
For most sites, adding the embed code is a small change. A developer or your web team may help if your site is built in an unusual way.
Can chats go into my CRM?
